The Dos To Reach Effective Communication: Learn From Cats!

If animals could speak the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much. Mark TwainEvery creature living on planet earth has its own unique way of expressing themselves i.e. to communicate. Communication in a broader sense is the art of delivering messages to each other and vice versa by signals behavior body language gestures writing and speech. Let’s see the interesting way cats convey their wants and needs to us humans. Domestic cats have their own way of communicating with humans. Research has shown that wild cats in Africa which later evolved into domestic cats don’t have this special skill. However regarding the domestic cat’s ancestor a recent study said

The domestic house cat is descended from the Middle Eastern Wild cat uncovering proof of how and when cats first came to supervise so many homes for humans. The DNA of 979 cats throughout the world were analyzed and found that all feral and domestic cats today have a common ancestor: the Near Eastern Felis silvestris. Cats were first domesticated in the Fertile Crescent an area stretching from the eastern Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf and then cats were transported around the world by humans. The earliest archaeological evidence for cats and people living together was found in Cyprus dating to 9500 years ago.

Domestic cats have a long relationship with humans traced all the way back to when farmers began growing grain 10000 to 12000 years ago. Farmers recognized that cats would prey on rodents who ate their crop and through this situation there developed a mutually beneficial relationship between our two species. You see cats and people have been communicating pretty well now for 10000 years.

In 2002 a psychologist from Cornell University Nicholas Nicastro compared hundreds of “meow” vocalizations from domestic cats Felis catus to African wild cats Felis silvetris lybica and his research proved that the difference between their vocalizations were in accordance to whether they were trying to communicate with humans. For instance when cats demand to be fed they express a different “meow” then when they are in an angry mood. Thus based on my own experience at being a longtime catlover I can tell their moods not only from their different meows but also by a wide range of kitty lexicon including their body language and gestures headbutts how they wag their tails et al. right on down to the different ways they purr. The research showed that there are indeed significant differences in the two different types of cats’ abilities to communicate and it all centered on their exposure to humans. The African wild cats were only capable of expressing the unpleasant meow vocal range. They don’t produce the soft swaying meows like domestic cats. Furthermore cats love to observe and study how we humans express our emotions and communicate our feelings to each other and with other creatures. And the clever little devils are taking notes because our cats really know how to push our buttons to get what they want. They have been learning from us all this time. Self-sacrifice In Animals

Living beings have to reproduce to continue their species. However reproduction by itself often proves insufficient because if living things fail to provide adequate care for their offspring the newborn cannot survive. In other words if living things did not feel the need to protect and look after their offspring and did not do this successfully newborn creatures would not be able to look after themselves and would soon die.

When we look at nature we see the majority of living things display amazing selfsacrifice in order to protect and provide the best care for their offspring incomparable to any form of sacrifice shown by human beings. Furthermore these living things risk their lives for their young without a moment’s hesitation. So how did such selfsacrifice in animals develop?

Evolutionists claim that selfsacrifice displayed by living things especially that shown towards their offspring is instinctive behavior. What then does the word instinct mean?

Evolutionists define instinct as a sense of intuition inherent in living things. They claim that an inner voice whispers to a spider a bird a lion or a tiny insect to practice selfsacrifice to keep the generations going. In reply to a question regarding the source of this voice they desperately say “mother nature”. In the view of evolutionists every phenomenon in nature is a miracle of nature.

However it is evident that this claim is futile and meaningless because nature itself is already a created entity consisting of the stones flowers trees rivers and mountains familiar to all of us. It is obvious that these entities cannot come together to furnish a living being with a new trait which is a product of intelligence.

As a matter of fact even Darwin himself was aware of this logical failure from the very beginning. In his book The Origin of Species which he wrote in 1859 he expressed his selfdoubt about his own theory in the following words:

So wonderful an instinct as that of the hivebee making its cells will probably have occurred to many readers as a difficulty sufficient to overthrow my whole theory. Charles Darwin The Origin of Species p. 233

Research conducted by scientists on living things has revealed that they live in an astounding harmony coordination and collaboration with one another. Wherever one turns in nature one is likely to see examples of this. For instance some little birds utter a shrill alarm call when they see a bird of prey like a hawk or eagle approaching their flock to warn their companions of the danger. Thus they attract the attention of the attacker to themselves. This behavior considerably reduces the chance of survival of the bird who sounded the alarm. But despite this the bird puts its own life at risk for the hundreds of other birds in the flock.

A majority of animals undertake all kind of selfsacrifice for their young. For example the incubation period of penguins is during the polar winter. Female penguins lay only one egg leave incubation to the males and return to the sea. During the four months of incubation the male penguin has to resist violent polar storms at times reaching speeds of 120 kilometers per hour. Making great sacrifices for four full months without leaving the egg the male penguin loses half of its body weight because it has no chance of going hunting. Although it goes without any food for months it does not go hunting and resists the violent storms without ever leaving the egg. After the end of the four months the female penguin shows up with a huge store of food. She has not wasted time in the meantime but has worked for her young and stored food for it. She empties her stomach and takes over the job of caring for the young.

The care provided by the crocodile a particularly savage animal for its offspring is also quite astounding. First the crocodile digs a hole for the incubation of its eggs. The temperature of the hole must never rise above 30C. A slight rise in temperature would threaten the lives of the offspring in the eggs. The crocodile takes care that the holes in which it places its eggs are located in rather shady places and goes to extraordinary efforts to keep the eggs at a constant temperature. Some crocodile species build nests of weeds on cold water. If the temperature of the nest still rises despite these measures then the crocodile cools the nest by sprinkling urea on it.

The time when the eggs hatch is most important because in the event the crocodile failed to hear the noises coming from the nest the young would be suffocated. The mother crocodile brings the eggs out and helps the offspring out of their eggs by using her teeth as tweezers. The crocodile with her razorsharp teeth avoids the slightest movement likely to injure her young. The safest place for the newly born is the protective pouch in its mother’s mouth which is specially designed to shelter half a dozen newly born crocodiles.

The meticulous care and concern a wild animal like the crocodile shows its offspring is only one of the examples proving the invalidity of the evolutionist claim of the struggle for life which maintains that the strong survive while the others are defeated and disappear.

The dolphin is another animal known for its selfsacrificing behavior. Dolphins raise their offspring with great care from the moment they are born. As soon as the newborn dolphin is born it has to go up to the surface of the water for oxygen. To provide this the mother dolphin shows amazingly conscious behavior and using the tip of her nose gently pushes the offspring above the surface of the water.

Just before birth the movements of the mother dolphin slow down considerably. For this reason two other females always accompany the mother dolphin during birth. Always remaining on either side of the mother the assistant dolphins assume the responsibility of protecting her from possible attacks by sharks that might be attracted by the smell of blood.

How can this instinct defined by evolutionists as “a drive observed in animals but not completely understood” guide animals to become civil engineers while building their nests perfect soldiers while protecting their young or colonies and turn even the most aggressive species into compassionate and gentle creatures towards their young?

Indeed Darwin also had difficulties in answering this query which he himself put forward. He often left related questions unanswered too. In his book The Origin of Species he asks the following questions:

Thirdly can instincts be acquired and modified through natural selection? What shall we say to so marvelous an instinct as that which leads the bee to make cells which have practically anticipated the discoveries of profound mathematicians? Charles Darwin The Origin of Species p.205

As seen Darwin’s doubts on “Natural Selection” are quite precise. Although Darwin himself confesses that Natural Selection is not a reasonable explanation the majority of evolutionists still insist on adhering to this fallacy.

Yet every human being who observes nature with a clear consciousness sees that living things are not brutal tough or uncompassionate because of the socalled struggle for life. On the contrary living beings are selfsacrificing because of the “inspiration” their Creator bestowed upon them.

As expressed in the 68th verse of the Surat anNahl which says “Your Lord revealed to bees” “God” the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between the Infinitely Compassionate and OftForgiving has control over all living things. Their instincts which Darwin was unable to explain within the scope of evolution are actually the inspiration given by God to all living things.

All life in nature is created by God. All living things come into being by the Will of God and behave in compliance with His inspiration. The selfsacrificing behavior kindness and care living beings display towards their young are merely the reflection of God’s name the “Compassionate”. This is revealed in the 7th verse of Surat anNahl:

“Your Lord is AllGentle Most Merciful”

Self Defence 5: Protect Yourself And Your Dog

We read so much about pet owners being attacked raped and murdered when walking their dog in the park or wherever..

Now rightly or wrongly I consider my first duty is to Tyson my dog.

1. I make sure his collar is such that I can slide it off in an instant freeing him and making it difficult for my attacker mugger or wouldbe rapist to catch hold and hurt him.

2. He is trained to “Bark” on command to draw attention if we are trouble. The last thing an attacker wants is publicity: so the more noise the better. Every time I walk him I train him with small dog biscuits to bark instantly and loudly. He doesn’t need to bite just bark. I don’t want him stabbed.

Being very worlduntrusting I always have some means of protecting him and myself! in the event of being under threat.

3. Firstly his lead has a fairly heavy clasp such that it can be slashed through an attacker’s face or eye. At the first sign of danger release your dog and wrap the lead around your hand with the clasp hanging down for about 30 inches just behind your buttock. As he closes slash the clasp through his face and slash back again most rapidly and violently causing him some inconvenience! This is somewhat similar to the martial art manrikigusarijutsu using a chain in self defence.

4. But personally I always have a second effective weapon with me a six inch long dog’s chew tucked in my belt. The martial arts system yawarajutsu uses a short stick to stab into eyes mouth hand or wherever. This hard chew makes for an excellent yawarastick. Most effective and perfectly legal! You cannot be accused by the wouldbe rapist that you used a martial arts weapon to beat him up! Although you actually have!

5. But above all Be Aware! Don’t be where Danger might be! Always carry that long strong dog chew!

Survive!

Botox is the brand name of the botulinum toxin type A a powerful poison that paralyzes muscles and temporarily smooths out wrinkles when used in small amounts. Since it was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for that purpose in 2002 Botox has become a highly popular nonsurgical procedure to remove frown lines crows feet and creases in the forehead.

In 2005 more than 3.2 million Botox treatments were performed according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In 2003 alone Allergan earned 226 million in net sales from Botox injections.

But theres a dark side to all of this. Before Botox is released to doctors it has to be tested for the right potency. This is carried out by a questionable test known as LD50 or Lethal Dose 50 that kills 50 percent of animals in the process. About a hundred mice are used in the test although Allergan claims it has reduced this number.

This test involves giving mice a single injection of the product into their abdominal cavity and seeing if animals die within 34 days. The mice are first assigned to one of various groups; each group will receive a different strength of the product in order to estimate the strength that kills half of the targeted group. That strength the LD50 value is then considered a single unit of Botox; from there Allergan packages a given number of units into a vial for human use the HSUS explained.

Of all the tests done on animals the conventional or classical LD50 is one of the most brutal. In Botox testing animals endure differing levels of muscular paralysis and suffer from impaired vision and dry mouth. Animals that die do so from suffocation after their diaphragms become paralyzed and they can no longer breathe. Those who don’t die immediately may languish with varying degrees of paralysis before being euthanized at the end of the three to fourday test the HSUS said.

Furthermore studies have shown that the LD50 test is unreliable and as early as 2002 the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development an international trade organization that produces testing guidelines stopped recommending this test. Sadly Allergan continues to ignore this recommendation resulting in the deaths of many lab animals.

It Is Better To Adopt A Pet Than To Buy A Dog

A lot of people think that adopting a pet is a big hassle. Most people that I know believe that if you decide to adopt a pet you will have to deal with all kinds of behavioral troubles. Adopting a dog or a cat they say is the surest way to have unnecessary trouble. Although this is true about some adoption rescue pets it is not true about all of them. Some of them have been severely abused or mistreated but others are perfectly healthy happy pets who need a home. The decision to adopt a pet can be one of the most rewarding ones that you can make. I guarantee that you will not regret it.

I first decided to adopt a pet dog about six months to go. I had thought about buying a new dog from an animal breeder but one of my friends told me that this was a bad idea. If you buy purebred dogs after all you can run into all kinds of genetic problems. You see dogs from pure breeds tend to be severely inbred. This can cause major health concerns later in life. When I decided to adopt a boxer puppy I knew that I was not going to get a purebred dog. Nonetheless I loved her. I was happy to adopt a pet because I knew that she needed help. The pure breed dogs will always be able to find someone to own them but the ones up for adoption do not have this chance.

Sometimes when you adopt a pet you are literally saving it from death. After all the animal shelters can only hold so many dogs cats rabbits and other animals for so long. After that they have to be put to death. When you adopt a pet it is one less animal that will have to be given an injection. In my opinion this is a great humanitarian act.

I don’t understand how people can justify buying a dog or cat when there are so many out there that need to be adopted. To me it just does not make sense. It only encourages the further breeding of pets which in turn leads to more unwanted animals. When you adopt a pet you do a little bit to save one animal from this vicious cycle. Inconsistent Views Towards Animal Rights

Among other reasons I became a vegan because I cannot justify needlessly killing an animal. If I needed to kill and eat animals to survive I would. However we do no longer need to kill animals to survive. A person can just as easily survive without eating meat while remaining just as healthy.

In fact we have the technology to essentially create meat without killing animals considering how simple of a substance meat is. We recreate meat in the form of meat substitutes such as soy burgers.

Despite their ability to live easily without killing animals for food many people still choose to eat meat. These people do not grant animals the right to life. If a person murdered another person and then ate that other person almost all people would adamantly oppose it. Meanwhile these same people slaughter animals without giving it a second thought.

It is hard to understand why murdering a human is so objectionable while murdering an animal is not. Most of us vegans and animal rights supporters view that as very inconsistent.

The inconsistency of people’s views towards animal rights goes further though. While people carelessly murder animals because they like the taste of meat and the look of leather these same people fall heads over heels about “cuter” animals. For example pigs are generally smarter than dogs but many people object to the idea of needlessly murdering and eating a dog.

People look at Michael Vick like he is a monster for organizing dog fights which is utterly hypocritical and inconsistent. Fighting dogs probably do not suffer any more than factoryfarmed chickens who are debeaked stuffed into an overpacked cage and eventually slaughtered. Why do people think it is fine to make animals suffer for the enjoyment of leather or the taste of a meaty burger but not for the entertainment of a dog fight?

Of course many people have inconsistent views when it even comes to entertainment and animal rights. Having dogs fight or cock fights for entertainment is seen as wrong and often made illegal but hunting for entertainment is a common pastime.

Some may try to excuse the inconsistency by saying that killing is not as horrible as making the animal suffer while staying alive. However there is still more inconsistency here. Why then do they not have a problem with animal testing? Animal testers carelessly torture animals with unsafe and dangerous products to make perfumes and other needless products. If needlessly torturing animals for petty pleasures is so objectionable to these people it is inconsistent for them to buy beauty products that have been tested on animals.

Simply put most people base their views regarding animal rights on emotions rather than on rationality which results in irrational inconsistencies. Many people do not want to reconsider their inconsistent views regarding animal rights because that would likely lead to giving up meat leather and other animal products.
