How To Detect And Treat Dog Allergies

How To Detect And Treat Dog Allergies
The first problem with allergies is that sometimes they are hard to detect especially in the early stages. That’s because if there are no behavioral symptoms then dog owners can only rely on visible physical symptoms to detect any allergies that the dogs might have.

One good way to detect any signs of allergy early is to regularly inspect the dogs for any signs of allergies such as flaking skin sore skin excessive losing of fur and so on. Such inspections can take place any time. For example inspect the dog after play time during a bath or when you get back from work. The key message here is it definitely helps to pay close attention to the physical condition of the dogs.

Sometimes dogs may give out behavioral signals that they are suffering from some form of allergies. They may manifest more irritable or aggressive behavior or they may scratch a particular area excessively. A sharp dog owner will immediately recognize these signals as something out of the ordinary and investigate further. Should allergies be suspected seek professional help immediately to verify that it is indeed an allergy so that the affected dog can be treated as soon as possible.

But detecting dog allergies is just the beginning of the problem. The most difficult part of the problem lies in accurately diagnosing the cause of the allergy. Like most allergies dog allergies can be caused by a wide variety of factors such as exposure to an excessively unhygienic environment bitten by an insect food plants and so on. It’s actually very difficult for vets to come to an accurate diagnosis without the help of the dog owner. After all the dog owner is the one who spends the most time with the dog and knows where the dog has been what it has done recently and what it has eaten. So be sure to furnish such important information to the vet when seeking medical help. Such information will surely help to narrow the scope of the cause of the allergies and the vet will be in a better position to treat the allergies.

For instance if food allergy is suspected you may be advised to stop using the same brand of food or to stop the current diet completely and change to a new one. In such a situation it may take a few weeks to determine if the allergies are really caused by the current diet. If the allergies go away after the diet is changed then the food may be the cause of the allergies. If not you may have to revisit the vet again and let him or her know that it doesn’t help.

Finally remember that sometimes allergies can be very difficult to diagnose and therefore time consuming to treat. So give your vet and yourself more time to deal with the allergies and above all shower lots of love and attention on your dog. You dog will have a much better chance of recovering from the allergies quicker.

How To Deal With A Dog Mouth Health Problem

How To Deal With A Dog Mouth Health Problem
Just like us dogs can develop tooth disease; making it very important to make sure that you care for your pet’s health by keeping their teeth clean and tartar free.

Dogs can get many of the same tooth gum and mouth diseases as we can and since your dog can’t tell you if they have a toothache pet owners have to make sure to take care of their dog’s teeth. Left alone a tooth infection can lead to more serious problems with their vital organs.

You dog’s diet has a real impact on their dental health. Dog food and treats which are fortified and made specifically to keep your dogs’ teeth in good shape are a healthy choice for your pet. While you can have your dogs’ teeth cleaned by your vet this is very expensive and since your dog must be anesthetized for this to be done can actually be dangerous for your pet! Professional cleaning should only be done in extreme cases.

Even if your dog is no longer a puppy you can train them to accept having their teeth brushed with some patience and perseverance. Both dogs and puppies alike can be acclimated to having the toothbrush in their mouths simply by starting out using your finger and a dab of peanut butter.

Your dog will lick your finger this will let you start rubbing their teeth and gums. Be sure to offer plenty of praise while you do this. Soon your dog will be used to this and you can move on to a finger wrapped in gauze. Rub the teeth and gums in a circular motion just as you would with a toothbrush. When your pet becomes accustomed to this you’re ready to move in to the real thing.

You should not use toothpaste which is made for humans as this will cause your dog to have an upset stomach. There is toothpaste designed for dogs which have a taste and smell which appeal to your pet. Let your dog lick a little off of the brush and then add more and start brushing.

Lift the sides of your dog’s gums so you can access their upper teeth aptly called the canines and hold the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle for the best results. This allows you to clean the gum line as well as the teeth to keep the gums equally as healthy. Brushing two to three teeth at a time brush in a circular motion anywhere from eight to ten times or so in order to get each area clean. A dog’s upper back teeth tend to be the most susceptible to decay and periodontal disease so if anything focus your efforts there first.

Make dog teeth cleaning a happy occasion for your dog. Keep low key to prevent your dog from getting too excited to hold still. You should only need abut a minute to get your dogs’ teeth clean and make sure that they stay healthy and happy.

About the writer:  Dog teeth cleaning is imperative to dog health and canine teeth cleaning can be done in a number of ways. Keep your dog’s teeth clean by brushing your dog’s teeth by a healthy diet and by adding a canine teeth cleaning agent to your dog’s drinking water. All can play a part in keeping your dog’s teeth healthy.

How To Choose Dog Fleece Beds

A dog’s sleeping habit will determine the model of dog fleece beds you choose for them. When you have a dog you will notice that some of our best friends enjoy curling while others will be fine with stretching out to relax their muscles.

Getting fleece beds for dogs will require that you consider the personality of your pooch. This is because you want only the best for your pet. For example if your dog does not like confinements you should not go for beds that may feel clusterphobic. Another vital factor you should consider is when you are traveling.

How To Build A Dog Fence?

How To Build A Dog Fence?

If you want to spend your hard earned money in building a dog fence it would be a wise idea to take advice from a professional in this project. Either you build a fence or engage the services of a professional the process will be similar. Using professional services may shoot your budget northwards but you are free of tensions. The person who will take contract from you will measure the dimensions and take an idea of the kind of design you prefer. Accordingly he will prepare the fence in the workshop and fix it in your yard once it is finished. Basically it is just a matter of taste and how much money you are willing to shell out.

For DIY fences

Primarily you have to determine the boundaries of the fence. Once determined fix the corner poles in the ground firmly. Then run the wires across the corner poles. Now you can set wood or stones all along. In the end you have to attach a gate. Dog panels can be obtained from the hardware shops. However these have to be welded. You can choose to weld it on your own or ask for professional help.

You must choose that dog fence in which your dog is safe and is unable to escape. The cheapest types of fences are the mesh fences. The mesh fences are attached to the wooden posts and are not very strong. Thus they are unable to contain some dogs. On the other hand the Chain Link fences are very strong and look fashionable too. The material used in the Chain Link fences is more durable but more expensive. You can install this yourself. Just follow the step by step instructions carefully without getting intimidated by the instructions. Building a Chain Link fence is a time taking process. The key is to be patient.

About the writer:nbsp;nbsp;DIY fences are low on budget and can turn out to be a fun work. How To Avoid Animal Attack Injury

How To Avoid Animal Attack Injury

Animals may be cute and cuddly. However even the friendliest and cuddliest animal can be harmful to its owner or to other individuals.

Animal attacks may happen while you are out for a walk or you are trying to stop another dog from attacking your cat or dog. It may even involve being kicked by a horse. Horses kick may be so powerful that it may cause serious injuries.

Out of all animal attacks dog bites or attacks are the most common.

Statistics show that every 40 seconds someone in the United States seeks medical attention for a dog bite. In fact about 800000 bites per year require medical treatment. Most of the victims are children and most of them are bitten on the face.

Whenever you are attacked by an animal and you are not at fault you can validly claim for compensation for your injuries. You have the right to file an animal attack injury claim.

Animal Bites or Attack Prevention

Having to file a suit against an animal owner should be the worst scenario. It will cause so much time and effort. There are steps that may be taken to prevent dog bites or attacks thereby lessening the chances of litigation.

  • Never go near any animal that you are not acquainted with even if they are being walked by their owner
  • Never try to taunt any animal or play with them recklessly
  • Do not approach or bend over to them especially if they are lying quietly
  • Do not approach them immediately after entering their territory
  • Do not tease or wake them
  • Do not play with them till they become overexcited
  • Do not hold an animal close to your face
  • Do not disturb them while they are sleeping eating or caring for their young
  • Do not leave children alone with an animal
  • Do not ignore the warning signals of the animals aggressive behavior

When dealing with dogs always remember the following:

  • Dogs will act aggressively when they are in a pack. This means that you should avoid having several dogs together around a child or group of children.
  • Untrained dogs are more likely to attack. Normally male dogs are the ones most likely to bite as a show of dominance.
  • During the summer season the likelihood of being bitten goes up with the number of dogs outside and out on walks. This means more opportunities for children to approach an unfamiliar dog. The owner should always keep the dog on a leash and adequately supervise and warn any children who approach.
  • They should never be kept on a chain in a yard or left unsupervised with children in the yard.

Being bitten or attacked by an animal clearly results to a case of personal injury. Consequently you have the legal and civil right to claim compensation for the pain and suffering medical costs and loss of earnings if you have been unable to work full time or part time as well as any expenses you have incurred.

How Animals Send Messages-Animal Communicating

How Animals Send Messages-Animal Communicating
I receive emails and letters from people all over the world who have read my book Hear All Creatures!; and want to learn more about communicating with animals.

nbsp;

A common question is:

nbsp;

nbsp;

nbsp;Do all animals speak English to you?;

nbsp;

A client from Japan emailed me explaining that only Japanese was spoken in her home and she wanted to know if that would be a problem for me to communicate with her elderly cat.nbsp;nbsp;The cat was deteriorating quickly and she wanted to know if it was time to say goodbye.nbsp;

Would a languagenbsp;barriernbsp;make anbsp;communication session obsolete? nbsp;

No not at all.nbsp; In fact the cat named Sakinbsp;who only knew the Japanese language spoke very fluent English to me. Saki told me how much she loved her human mom but it was her ‘time to go’. She expressed great appreciation in the English language about how full her life was but that her body was failing her.nbsp; Saki did not want to continue her life this way.nbsp;

How can Saki speak English?

Another client from Kentucky contacted me about the upcoming purchase of a horse in Germany. She was concerned that the horse would not want to be in the show ring any longer.nbsp; This horse was quite expensive about 50000 and my client wanted me to make sure he was up for the challenge.nbsp; Her concern was he had been born raised and trained in Germany and had only been around the German language.nbsp;

Would I be able to communicate with him?

It was not a problem at all. This handsome horse spoke to me in perfect English about how all he wanted was to win.nbsp; He lived for the shows and felt like he was in his element when all eyes were on him.nbsp;

How is it that both of these animals from foreign countries could speak to me in perfect English?

The answer to that is both simple and complicated at the same time.

Quite simply the animals communicate by sending images words or feelings in my frame of reference.nbsp; No matter what country they are from or what language is spoken in their home theynbsp;send messagesnbsp;in a waynbsp;that I will understand.nbsp;

I am primarily clairaudient meaning I hear the messages from the animals.nbsp; If animals don’t know what something is called theynbsp;may describe the objectnbsp;to me in detail.nbsp; They will sometimes flash an image to menbsp;of what they want to convey.nbsp;nbsp;Other times they will do their best to describe it to me.nbsp;

Frankie a basset hound from France insisted that I tell his human momnbsp;about a beep beep noise.nbsp;nbsp;I had no idea what thisnbsp;beep beep thing was but she laughed as soon as I told her and knew exactly what Frankienbsp;was saying.nbsp;nbsp;She heats up Frankie’s home cooked meals in the microwave and when he hears the beep beep he knows his dinner is ready. Frankie is very food obsessed.nbsp;

Frankie did not know the word for microwave so he sent me what the microwave was to him.nbsp; A ‘beep beep’ noise.

There have been some rather comical references that the animals will use from time to time.nbsp; A dog named Ricanbsp;fromnbsp;Italy kept showing me a box of Froot Loops cereal.nbsp; I had no idea what this meant but the family knew as soon as I told them.nbsp;

Oh that is her personality to the T replied Rica’s mom we call her anbsp;’Froot Loop’ all the time because she isnbsp;kind of kooky!;

The complicated part is explainingnbsp;how the messages are formed by the animals.nbsp; Obviously animals dontnbsp;speak English verbally like we do. So how do they know what the right English words are?

I wondered about this myself so I asked my spiritual guides during a meditation session many years ago.nbsp;nbsp;There must be some kind of translation process that occurs during a communication session. I have been told by my guides and spiritual helpers that they are the ones who help put the messages together for me so I will understand them. All of this happens in a split second so it really amazes me even now how quickly the messages come through. We all have guides and spiritual helpers who assist us.nbsp; My guides just happen to help me hear the messages from the animals.

The second part of understanding the animals is verynbsp;similar to going to a foreign country and learning another language.nbsp; If you spend enough time in Mexico for instance you will quickly learn how to say Gracias or ‘Thank You in Spanish.nbsp; Likewise you will pick up on the how to say other words like Por Favor or ‘Please’.nbsp; If you spend a lot of time in a foreign country you become quite fluent with thatnbsp;language.nbsp; The same can be said for learning how to understand the animals. The more time you spend practicing the more fluentnbsp; you become at learning what certain feelings images and words mean.nbsp;

Whether they are still living or deceased it is not complicted to learn how to understand the animals.nbsp; In fact I can teach most peoplenbsp;in about 15 minutes during my teleclasses.nbsp; It takes practice and dedication but most people who are open to the process and who truly want to learn can do so in a very short amount of time.

Your animals anxiously await the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with you.nbsp; Are you listening?

Blessings to you and all the animals you share your life with.

How A Dog Helps You Lose Weight

How A Dog Helps You Lose Weight

If you are one of those people that find it hard to motivate yourself to exercise like you should enlist the help of your furry four legged friend your dog.

Dogs love to go for walks. Even if you are not feeling motivated and up to a daily walk your dog is still more than happy to follow you around with those puppy dog eyes waiting for you to give in and go.

At our dog’s last vet visit we were told our dog needed to lose a few pounds and were asked about how much exercise she got. Although we live in the country on several acres of land where our dog has the freedom to romp and play at will; our vet pointed out it’s not the same as giving her daily exercise like a walk or run would. And he only halfjokingly pointed out as he patted my husband’s found stomach it a daily walk with the dog wouldn’t do my husband any harm either.

So a few month’s ago the daily walks with our dog and my husband started. I go along on the walks but I don’t actually hold the leash because our dog doesn’t really walk she pulls on the leash like an Alaskan sled dog because she wants to go faster and smell more things. I have a hard time controlling the dog when she’s in the mood to pull on the leash like that which is most of the time and she’s not a huge dog she weighs less than 50 pounds but she’s strong enough to nearly pull my husband off his feet if he’s not paying attention when she sees a rabbit or squirrel that she thinks needs to be chased.

At first the walks were only a mile in duration. Now my husband and dog her name is Montana walk three to four miles a day walking for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. There are days my husband does not feel like going for a walk. But Montana knows the routine at our house. After my husband walks in the door at night and has eaten she knows it is time for a walk. That’s when Montana starts to act like she glued to my husband. She follows him around the house dancing around him licking his hand when she can wagging her tail and looking at him in that happy “we are going for a walk now aren’t we” way.

Even on the nights he has looked at her and said “Montana I don’t feel like going for a walk tonight” the dog just tilts her head as if to say “But we have to go.” Now that the dog is used to the routine of walking my husband never lasts more than 10 minutes after saying he doesn’t want to walk. He gives in and goes because he can tell how much Montana wants to go because like any dog worth its furry coat she doesn’t give in. She just keeps waiting and being excited about that walk and stays right next to my husband as a reminder that he needs to take her. Now even if it’s raining or snowing they go for a walk.

They have only missed a few nights and that was because it was storming with lightning. On those nights my husband rewarded the dog by playing a game where he chased the dog yes he chased her around the house much to her delight and played a long game of tug of war with her to tire her out and make her not miss her walk too much.

Has all that walking helped? It sure has. When our dog got her shots last week she had lost two pounds. My husband has lost nearly 10 pounds over the last three months by going on the daily walks. He hasn’t made any modifications to his diet or added any other exercise. Just the walking itself has resulted in the weight loss for him.

I’m not advocating that you get a dog just to help you exercise every day. But if already have a dog get up off that couch and take him or her for a walk every day. It will be good for both of you. And if you have been wanting to get a dog anyway and are ready for the commitment of caring for a dog and giving it the exercise it needs then visit your local pound and talk to them about adopting a dog who needs a loving home.

Give Your Child A Dog Training Book Before You Give

Give Your Child A Dog Training Book Before You Give Him A Puppy

My wife and I decided to surprise our son with a new puppy for his 10th birthday a few weeks ago. He had been asking for a pet for the longest time but we didn’t feel that he was ready to handle the responsibility until now. One condition we placed on adopting the puppy was that my son would be completely responsible for the dog’s care. He would have to take his puppy for walks play with it feed it make sure it had access to fresh water and train it. To help my son carry out his responsibility we also bought a couple of dog training books for him to read.

After careful consideration we decided that dog training books would be a better option than obedience classes for a few different reasons. For instance we wanted our son to develop a strong bond with his new pet and figured that using dog training books instead of obedience classes would allow him to spend more time with the puppy. In addition our son would get a bigger sense of accomplishment from teaching his puppy basic commands through techniques learned in dog training books. He would be doing everything on his own and could take full credit for the way the animal turned out. And finally we thought it would be handy to have dog training books around the house for a quick reference should any behavioral problems come up.

There were so many dog training books at the local bookstore that it was pretty overwhelming trying to sort through all the choices. I didn’t really know anything about dogs so had no idea which trainers or methods were successful and which weren’t. Before making a purchase it was imperative for me to find out more about how to train dogs in general. So I went online to do as much research as possible in the time I had before my son’s birthday. Once I had some good information to work with I felt comfortable enough to choose several dog training books that were appropriate both for my son’s age and for the dog’s breed. I also decided to buy a couple of the trainer’s aids recommended in the manuals including a special leash and collar.

As I said before it’s been a few weeks since we brought the puppy home. I’m proud to say that my son has been holding up his end of the bargain admirably and is really making progress thanks to the tips and advice in the dog training books. We’re sure that he’ll continue to do exceptionally well in teaching his pet basic commands and more and we’re looking forward to watching this new friendship blossom!
