Gift Your Pet A Healthy Life With A Cheap Dog

Gift Your Pet A Healthy Life With A Cheap Dog Insurance

A friend of ours is moving away to a different continent due to a job transfer. Well so much for the good news. The bad news is that they have to leave behind their Great Dane which is now one year old. Zeus is already heartbroken thinking of the fact that he would now have to stay away from his master. We have volunteered to adopt him as he gets along well with our two Labrador Retrievers and is an adorable pet otherwise. However the only concern I had about adopting Zeus was the fact that I have no clue about the expenditure that needs to be undertaken for a Great Dane and we would want to provide only the best for him. This problem was solved very easily as our friends told us that Zeus already had dog insurance from a reputable company which takes care of all his expenses.

The adoption of Zeus made me realize the importance of having cheap dog insurance for my pets. Earlier I thought that cheap dog insurance would help to cover only the expenses incurred for the pets medical bills. However I was pleasantly surprised to learn about all the additional expenses that would be covered in case I got my pets insured. Any reliable company offering any kind of pet insurance would give you a free quote for every kind of plan that may suit your pets requirement. Many companies providing cheap dog insurance have a provision to cover not only the veterinary bills but also any kind of expenses that are associated with your dog. For instance your dog insurance could cover the cost of public liability that you may face due to some damage caused by your pet to third parties. Cost for advertisement in case your pet is lost is also covered under certain dog insurance plans.

Even unpredictable events such as cancellation charges for a holiday in case your pet is ill can be covered under suitable insurance plans. You must carefully select and decide upon a plan that provides the maximum benefits to you and your pet in order to forget all your financial worries with regard to a precious pet. A little fund should never again come in the way of providing the best care for your pets and cheap dog insurance ensures this fact. Various breeds of dogs fall prey to specific kinds of diseases and pet insurance let you be prepared to shoulder the costs for treatment of such diseases which can be quite steep.

Many diseases in animals were considered incurable even until a few years ago. However advancement in the field of veterinary medicine has made it possible to cure any kind of diseases even rare and severe illnesses like a heart enlargement or kidney transplant. Having dog insurance lets you provide the very best treatment and medication for your dogs without letting you feel the financial burden of such treatments. Therefore if you truly love your pet you must seriously consider gifting him a customized plan for cheap dog insurance.

Getting A Dog – Are You Ready For The Commitment?

Getting A Dog – Are You Ready For The Commitment?

Getting your first dog is an exciting experience but also one you must consider carefully. Dogs like people need care attention and food which are not minor commitments. So what are you really in for when you get a dog?

It’s something a lot of us have experienced especially those of us blessed with kids that make constant demands for the latest toys and whatever they can find for us to spend money on. But one thing that always seems constant in the desires of so many people young and old is to have the company of a fourlegged friend a friend to play with go for walks with to be affectionate with and who’ll never let them down. Wanting a dog has been a common human wish for as long as these animals have been seen fit for domestication.

So what constrains so many of us from going ahead and getting ourselves a new best friend? Many people would be unable to walk a dog and dogs need their exercise. Working adults may not have the time to give a dog the attention it needs or affording food might just be out of the question. Another reason is simply that many people don’t know exactly what’s involved in looking after a dog.

What to expect from dog ownership

It’s really quite simple: dogs have many of the same needs that people do. They need to eat to survive. They also need to sleep socialise keep clean and exercise in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They require visits to the vet when they’re sick and when they need a check up. But above all they need an owner who will provide care attention love and affection and it’s in a dog’s nature to give these exact qualities right back.

There’s no question that taking the plunge and getting a new friend is a big decision. It is costly and it is time consuming. A dog is a new member of the family not just something you can ignore once the novelty values run out. But if cared for properly a dog will also pay for itself in terms of what it can do for your health both physical and mental.

There’s a lot to consider when you think about getting a dog. Do you have the time? Do you have the money? Is your home safe for a pet and if not are you prepared to make it that way? Can you spend time finding a vet and bother to search for and purchase pet insurance? After all you never know when your dog will become ill or injured.

If the answer to the above is yes then you’re ready for a dog. Dogs are an unforgettable part of our lives when we let them in so if you your kids or your whole family is ready and willing enjoy your trip to the dog home and come home with a new best friend.

Get The Right Dog Food For A Low Price

Get The Right Dog Food For A Low Price

Dogs just like people need food in order to live. They cannot go to the pet store or supermarket so you have to buy their food yourself. However dogs cannot talk. They do not have the ability to communicate with you besides barking and wagging their tail. In order to choose the best food for your dog you must be aware of several factors.

Age is a big factor in dog food choice. Different age groups require different kinds of food and you must choose accordingly. For example puppies need extra energy in their food since they are like human teenagers. Adult dogs need other nutrients in order to keep them alive and well. Adult dogs need completely different nutritional quantities so watch for the age of your dog when you shop for his or her food.

Breed is also something to take care of when selecting the right food for your dog. Dogs come in many shapes and sizes and there is no “one kind fits all” situation. A small dog does not require huge amounts of food like big dogs and a big dog will not be able to function with foods for small breeds. Make sure to keep your eye on that.

Health condition is another factor in your choice. When dogs are sick they need a special nutrition just like people. If your vet tells you to get only a certain type of food for your dog make sure you take only this kind. Using the wrong type of food on an unhealthy dog can seriously harm his or her health.

Price is another factor in your choice but it does not have to be. You can use one of many dog food coupons available on the Pet Department of GreatInfoProducts.com.

Frequently Asked Dog Training Questions And Their Solutions

Frequently Asked Dog Training Questions And Their Solutions

Dog training frequently asked questions and solutions

I frequently get asked the same questions by different clients all the time. Here are the questions and the solutions.

Why wont my dog come to me when I call them? First of dogs with out a fenced in yard are the harder to teach come to because they do not have enough time off leash and will not give that up when they are loose. If you give your dog ample exercise off leash in an enclosed park or some other area on a regular basis then it is no big deal for them to come to you when they are loose because they are not giving anything up. Also you MUST be exciting no one wants a boring dog and no dog wants a boring owner. I can teach you 3 tools that will get your dog to come to you first their name means come to me then come as an emergencies command and then I have a secret weapon that is fool proof.

Why does my dog tear up paper eat Kleenex and sticks?
When dogs tear things apart or eat strange things it usually an instinctual behavior passed down from the wolves. Most of the time it comes from when wolves would hunt for food and tearing the meat off the bone is satiating to them. Kleenex eating is a mystery to my vet and myself. I think it just tastes good. A lot of dogs will sit down and eat a whole toilet paper roll or Kleenex box. If your dog does this the best advice I can give is to keep these things out of reach. If they cant reach it they cant chew/eat it!

How to get rid of urine smells in carpet?
There are many different products out there; personally I have not found one that is 100 effective. Natures Miracle seems to have a good reputation. There are many home remedies like a dilution of vinegar and water to get the smell out but this solution can also stain many surfaces and carpets so do a small test site first and wait 34 days to see if the color changes. The professional carpet cleaners sometimes guarantee to get the urine smell out of surfaces make sure so youre not wasting your money on another useless method.

Why should I get my dog spayed or neutered?
The number one reason is that there are more than 5000 homeless dogs in the metro Atlanta area alone not to mention the surrounding counties. There are some dogs prone to testicular and other forms of cancer by neutering/spaying them you could be saving there life in the future. Dogs that are spayed/ neutered seem to have less behavior problems then dogs that are in tact. The health of the dogs is also better and you will have fewer visits to the veterinarian.

Where should I get a dog from? A breeder a pet store or rescue group?
If you get your dog from a rescue group Golden Retriever rescue /Lab etc. you can get the breed you are looking for and save a life. The humane societies and shelters always have a lot to choose from. If you must go to a breeder or pet store do some back ground checking and make sure you are not buying from a puppy mill.

What are some poisonous things I should be aware of around my house and yard?
Some command foods that are poison to dogs are chocolate grapes and almonds. Just a few teaspoons of anti freeze can kill a dog in the matter of hours. Pesticides can be very harmful to animals as well rat poisons bug repellents and moth ball. Some house plants such as poinsettias mistle toe azaleas and tulip bulbs are also poisonous.

Feeding Your Growing Puppy The Right Dog Nutrition

Feeding Your Growing Puppy The Right Dog Nutrition

After the puppy has been weaned he can begin to learn how to handle and digest different types of new dog foods. During the next 12 to 18 months of his life he will continue to learn how to cope with the variety of new dog foods he eats. For the first six to eight months of that period the puppy will be both growing and using nutrients and energy at an incredible rate. If a dog food is fed containing ingredients to which a puppy is not used to or nutrients that are difficult to digest he may be unable to obtain enough dog nutrition and energy to sustain his rapid growth. In such cases the puppies are usually stunted.

In additiondog foods containing too many ingredients which the puppy has not yet learned to digest can cause another problem called “hurry diarrhea”. When a dog owner gets in too big a hurry to feed adult dog food to a puppy excessive amounts of indigestible materials are usually introduced into the puppy’s digestive tract. These materials irritate the sensitive intestine of the inexperienced puppy and produce a diarrhea.

Good dog nutrition is key so formulating a suitable diet for a puppy is one of the most important steps in starting a dog’s life. The only source of nourishment a rapidly growing puppy receives comes exclusively from what his owner provides him. His health and growth will be a reflection of how well the owner is doing his job. If you provide your pet with poor dog food materials during this building period your puppy will be destined to carry inferior parts for the rest of its life.

A growing puppy needs twice as much energy and nutrients as an adult dog. Simply feeding him twice as much as an adult dog’s food is not enough however. The energy and nutrients must be in a form that is digestible by the puppy’s inexperienced and sensitive digestive tract. However as the puppy grows older the diet can include dog foods that are more and more difficult for a dog to digest. Continue to feed your growing puppy the same dog food that was used to wean him but gradually add additional foods to train the puppy’s inexperienced digestive system. Just as the food fed to an adult is not suitable for a puppy the dog food fed to a puppy is not suitable for an adult dog.

By the time the puppy has reached maturity his digestive system should be thoroughly trained to handle all of the dog foods it will be fed during his adult life. Generally canned and softmoist foods contain ingredients of higher digestibility than dry dog foods. Canned dog foods are usually more suitable to feed to growing puppies than softmoist dog foods. There are exceptions howevera few dry dog foods contain excellent dog nutrition which are easily digestible. are much better for feeding fast growing puppies than numerous canned dog foods containing poorly digestible nutrients.

Fear Of Dogs: Cure For Fear Or Phobia Of Dogs

Fear Of Dogs: Cure For Fear Or Phobia Of Dogs

The fear of dogs can interfere with your ability to enjoy life to the fullest especially if your friends and family own pets. You may feel anxiety and panic at the very thought of visiting people who have animals and the very idea of befriending breeders is impossible. The first step is to determine if you have a phobia of canines.

Phobia of Dogs

A phobic condition is one that is difficult to overlook as long as you are realistic. You may have completely irrational anxiety about canines but you simply cant help but respond with fearful emotions. Your fear of dogs seems to get out of control and there is nothing you can do to stop panicked thoughts and feelings.

Your panic can spill into your everyday life as you work very hard to avoid any situation that involves puppies or pets. This can interfere with your daily routine because you may avoid leaving your home because you are afraid of having an encounter with a canine. You may shut yourself in your home for complete avoidance.

Fear of Dogs

Your fearful feelings may not have gotten to the point of complete isolation but you are overwhelmed with anxiety when in the presence of a canine. This is problematic because if left untreated it could develop into a phobia. Taking steps to change the way you think about a dog and this can lead to new healthier feelings.

Your thoughts about interacting with a dog are based on fearful experiences or beliefs. You can change these inner thought patterns by using selfhypnosis as a guide. This process is naturally relaxing and it yields excellent results.

Benefits of Hypnosis

There are many benefits to taking this approach. If you have a phobia you can augment your treatment plan and interventions with hypnosis. This reinforces your treatment and it helps you relax and follow through with ease.

You can opt to work with the hypnosis without other interventions if your fears are not too extreme. You address your fearful feelings and the physical responses that you have changing them to positive ones effortless. You find it very easy to make the necessary changes to change the way you think and feel about dogs.

Steve G Jones M. Ed is a master of hypnosis who has created an excellent recording found here Fear Of Dogs. This recording offers the guidance necessary to overcome your anxiety. Every Dog Owner Should Know

Every Dog Owner Should Know

The latest statistics have shown that dogs bite 4.7 million people in America each year.
There are 62 million dogs in the United States. Unfortunately Americans are purchasing more fiercer breeds and are leaving their dogs more often at home alone untrained and unsupervised. Most dog bites or attacks occur when dogs are tied up long periods of time or spend most of their time by themselves and therefore are not used to strangers. Of course these dogs have also not had basic obedience training.
A dog owner is liable for every bite his or her dog inflicts on another person. The old law was that an owner was not liable unless the dog had already shown it was likely to hurt someone. However the law has changed. Most states including California hold owners liable for any harm their dog causes to another person. This is true whether or not the owner believed beforehand that their dog was dangerous. Dog owners are responsible for an injured person’s lost wages medical expenses etc. Dog owners can prevent bites by teaching their dog. It’s that simple. You must as an owner train and socialize your pet. There are humane societies everywhere which offer low cost basic obedience classes which we highly recommend you enroll for you or your dog if you haven’t already done so.
Further tips are as follows:

a. Never let a dog run at large.
b. Keep your dog’s vaccinations current.
c. Keep your dog out of stranger’s paths such as salespeople mail
carriers anyone who comes to your front door. Keep your dog away from the front door.

Easy Weight Loss For Dog Lovers

Easy Weight Loss For Dog Lovers

If you need to lose weight more than likely you are thinking in terms of diet and exercise plans not pets. There are however several reasons why getting a dog may be the best thing you ever do in terms of weight loss. Having a dog can lead to several small but significant lifestyle changes that all add up over time!

For one thing a dog requires a minimum of one hour a day of walking and that’s every day not just sunny days and not just when you feel like it. Of course you can just take the dog into the yard and throw the ball for it but why not take advantage of your canine companion and go for real walks every day? It’s better for you and better for the dog. Over time it gets to be very enjoyable.

Some people feel that just the act of getting a new puppy is weight loss measure in and of itself. Until it’s trained it’s more than likely to keep you on your toes you’ll be lucky to get a chance to sit down and eat let alone cook! That initial crazy period usually ends pretty quickly though. Besides walking here are some other tips for easy weight loss with dogs.

Here’s a great trick feed any bits of food you don’t want or think you shouldn’t eat to the dog. For example I haven’t eaten a toast crust in over two years. I used to eat them just to be rid of them. It just seems wrong to throw them in the garbage somehow. But feeding them to the dog is nothing more or less than symbiotic. You may not think this is a great weight loss measure by the way but I’m sure that all those crusts add up!

I must admit and veterinary dog food purists close your ears! that it goes a bit further than that. What if you have made a yummy pasta dish and there’s just a little left not really enough to be worth putting in a plastic container and saving? If it’s not so good I’d throw it out but if it is good that puts me in a spot. I’ll probably either eat it outright despite being full or pick away at it over the course of a few hours until it’s gone. This can be avoided if you just simply and automatically give it to the dog. After all dogs evolved alongside humans for millennia in exactly this way. They ate the leftovers of whatever their human companions were eating. Nowadays the pet food industry cautions us against doing so but if the food you’re eating is reasonably healthy who’s to say that feeding small bits of it to the dog will do the dog any harm at all?

Personally I have on occasion sunk even lower than that in canine gastrointestinal abuse. There is a brand of white cheddar popcorn marketed as Smartfood’ and sold in huge bags with about a day and a half worth of calories in each. I love it. I love it so much I have been known to eat a whole bag over the course of a few hours. It’s delicious. It’s the kind of thing I should never buy a bag of. But if I do and I’ve ripped into it and it’s disappearing I can do damage control by periodically pausing in my binging to tip large amounts of the popcorn into a bowl on the floor where it is just as quickly eaten up by the dog.

It helps to have a big dog. I don’t know that any of these measures would work so well with a little one that can’t eat quickly. It helps also if the dog is at least half black lab. They are purported to have iron cast stomachs rather like goats and this has proven to be true in the case of my dog as proven when at the age of eleven months she ate four tubes of oil paint metal and all. She ate all the reds yellows and oranges strangely enough ignoring the cool side of the color wheel completely and amazingly suffered no ill consequences at all!
